Ex-Chelsea star reveals what Koulibaly will bring to club

Former Chelsea player and manager Roberto Di Matteo has been speaking about what Kalidou Koulibaly will bring to Chelsea.

Koulibaly was signed for a fee reported to be close to €40m, which is a sizable sum given he is already 31 years of age.

However, Chelsea were in desperate need of some quality at the back headed into the new season following the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.

And Koulibaly, who has dominated the Serie A for many years, is sure to bring that to this Chelsea side.

Now, in a recent interview, former Chelsea man Roberto Di Matteo has been speaking about what Koulibaly will bring to Chelsea:

“He’s a top-class player. He will bring physicality, which you need in the Premier League, but also he has a lot of technical ability and he has the tactical awareness that you see from the Italian sides in Serie A,” Di Matteo said.

The former player also praised Raheem Sterling’s arrival at the Bridge: “Koulibaly and Sterling and two brilliant signings. I think they are going to be very important for the team this season and for the future.

“They are two players that I think will have a big impact at the club and I’m sure the coach knows them very well in terms of how he wants to utilise them.

“I think they will bring a lot of quality into the side, for sure.”
