India and West Indies go head to head in the second T20I in St Kitts on August 1. The visitors are leading the five-match series 1-0 after winning the first T20I in Trinidad. The final two matches will be played at Lauderhill in Florida.

Rohit Sharma scored 64 in the opening game and returned to form in style. The Indian middle-order struggled to get runs and Dinesh Karthik finished the innings for India with an unbeaten 41 off 19 balls. Rohit addressed India’s problem of fine-tuning the middle-order and said the batters need to bat long once set.

“The shot-making wasn’t easy at the start. The guys who are set need to carry on for longer and the way we finished off the first innings was a great effort. When we finished the first 10 overs, we didn’t think we could get to 190. It was a great effort from the boys and great finish. There are three facets of the game which we are trying to improve. We gotta try and back the ideas about executing it with the bat” said Rohit on his part.

West Indies batters struggled to get runs with Nicholas Pooran, Jason Holder and Rovman Powell getting dismissed after getting started. They lost wickets consistently to lose the game by a huge 68-run margin. The loss did hurt the Windies players as said by Pooran himself after the game.

“The players are feeling hurt, it’s the first game of the series and we are looking to bounce back. 18 overs it was 150 I guess and then they took the momentum away from us, we just have to work on our discipline. The spinners did well and we have to look at some of the combinations going ahead” said Pooran.
