Both teams kicked off their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with draws against Lesotho and Rwanda respectively, and they’ll contend with each other for three valuable points.

The match is to be played at the 20,000-capacity Huye Stadium – the adopted home ground of the Warriors – following the lack of fit venues in Zimbabwe to host the game.

Souleiman Ahmed Djama from Djibouti will be the referee, to be assisted by his countrymen Liban Abdoulrazack Ahmed (assistant referee 1), Rachid Waiss Bouraleh (assistant referee 2) and Mohamed Diraneh Guedi (fourth official).

Yohannes Ghirmai Ghebregziabher from Eritrea will be in the role of referee assessor and Raphael Lyson Humba from Malawi will be the match commissioner.

It’s important to point out that whoever wins this match will likely go top of the group pending the result of the game between Rwanda and South Africa, while the losers will find themselves hovering around the bottom half of the table.

Exeter City striker Admiral Muskwe was forced off inside the opening half-hour against Rwanda and is a major doubt for Sunday’s clash. In his absence, Supersport United forward Terrence Dzvukamanja will be hoping to get a start in the XI alongside 26-year-old Prince Dube.

Meanwhile, Luton Town’s Marvelous Nakamba should keep his place at the heart of the midfield, while we expect an unchanged back three of Gerald Takwara, Teenage Hadebe, and Divine Lunga.

Despite Thursday’s disappointing result, Jose Peseiro should not make major changes to his XI, with Victor Boniface and Taiwo Awoniyi set to lead the attack once again in the absence of the injured Victor Osimhen.

With Wilfred Ndidi out of the squad as well, Brentford’s Frank Onyeka should team up with Alex Iwobi in midfield, while there might be a change at the back with Omeruo coming in for Calvin Bassey and Ola Aina starting in place of Bruno or Bright.
