Chelsea outcast told his ‘razzmatazz’ would ‘suit’ MLS as pundit urges PL clubs to avoid ‘gamble’

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would “suit” MLS, according to former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour.

Aubameyang was left out of Chelsea’s Champions League squad for the knockout stages, leaving his future at the club in serious doubt.

MLS side Los Angeles FC have been linked with a move for Aubameyang following Gareth Bale’s retirement.

However, a report from The Telegraph has stated that the former Arsenal captain is ‘determined’ to stay at Stamford Bridge to fight for a starting spot in the Premier League.

A move to the United States would be good for Aubameyang as he will be guaranteed playing time while staying at Chelsea would likely result in lots of substitute appearances.

There is interest from Barcelona, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid with a summer exit looking likely.

The 33-year-old’s contract expires in less than 18 months, so he should be available for a fairly small fee at the end of the season.

Aubameyang’s wage demands could be a potential stumbling block, however, and Parlour does not think another Premier League side would “gamble” on the Gabon captain.

“He isn’t going to get anywhere else in the Premier League,” Parlour said.

“With his wages, what club would take him? Would someone gamble?”

Parlour does believe that Aubameyang would “suit” MLS and would score goals in North America “all day long”.

“It’s remarkable what’s happened, it looks like he’s got no confidence whatsoever,” the Arsenal icon said.

“[MLS] would probably suit him – a little bit of razzmatazz, all the American fans will like something different and certainly he can score goals in MLS all day long.

“Chelsea, it hasn’t worked out, Graham Potter probably knows he’s not part of the club’s future, with the signings they’ve bought in as well he’s not going to get a game, so I can certainly see that deal going through.

“It’s all down to Aubameyang, if he doesn’t want to go and is happy where he is, he won’t go, he just has to get on with it until the end of the season.”

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has been high in praise of Aubameyang’s professionalism and insists there is “nothing to report” about reported interested from LAFC.

Speaking on Friday, he said: “Nothing to report. He’s been training with us this week and training really well. A really good professional, supporting his teammates.

“He’s doing everything I expect, training well and acting well.”
