The UEFA Champions League is a special competition. It features the best teams from Europe, like Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich, compete for the continental crown. As a result, everything about the tournament is grand and unique, including its amazing anthem.
The UEFA Champions League Anthem
The official UEFA Champions League Anthem was written by English composer Tony Britten in 1992. It is an adaption of George Frideric Händel’s anthem Zadok the Priest, which is traditionally performed at the coronation of British monarchs.
The Champions League Anthem is played inside the stadium before each match begins, as well as the start of television broadcasts of the games and at the end. It was last played in the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League Semi-final second legs, where Manchester City beat Real Madrid 4-0 in Manchester and Inter Milan trounced city rivals AC Milan 2-0.
The Champions League Anthem will be played again at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on 11 June 2023. Pep Guardiola will look to add another trophy to his cabinet as his Manchester City side plays Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League Final.
