The 2023 Women’s World Cup final will conclude an epic tournament in Australia and New Zealand taking place this summer (their winter).

Riding the surging wave of popularity in the women’s game, it is the first Women’s World Cup to feature 32 countries after being expanded by FIFA since the 2019 tournament.

The United States are back-to-back reigning World Cup champions. But they will face stiff competition from co-hosts Australia and current European champions England, as well as the usual suspects like Germany, France, Sweden and Japan.

Read on for everything you need to know about this year’s final.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup finishes with the final on Sunday 20 August. It is around three weeks later than the Euro 2022 final was played last year, while the 2019 Women’s World Cup final took place as early as 7 July four years ago – before this tournament even begins.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup final will be played at Stadium Australia in Sydney. With 82,500-capacity, it was originally built to host the 2000 Olympics in the city and was the site of the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the athletics events – including Cathy Freeman’s iconic 400m.

During the rest of the World Cup, Stadium Australia will host Australia’s opening Group B game against Republic of Ireland, as well as a last 16 match, one quarter-final and one semi-final.

Tickets for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, including the final, first went on sale in October 2022.

There were initially two phases of ticket sales, both including a priority pre-sale event for Visa cardholders. The first was from 6 October 2022 until 21 October 2022, with the next ticketing window running from 25 October 2022 until 3 March 2023.

A third ticketing window, dubbed ‘Last Minutes Sales’ began on 11 April 2023 and will remain open until the end of the tournament or all available tickets have been sold.

At this moment in time, all available tickets for the 2023 Women’s World Cup final, both semi-finals and a handful of group games involving Australia or England have been sold and tickets are not currently available. Most games still have availability ranging from good to limited.

Women’s football tickets have remained very affortable for this tournament and the final is no different, with even the most expensive costing a fraction of the price that fans would have paid in Qatar for the men’s equivalent at the end of last year.
