Gervonta Davis Reacts To Eddie Hearn’s “not A Deep Thinker” Comment

By Allan Fox: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis took issue with promoter Eddie Hearn’s recent interview in which he told DAZN that he’s “Not a deep thinker, not articulate.”

Tank (28-0, 26 KOs)  responded by saying that he didn’t accept the offer Hearn gave to him because of not being not a “deep thinker.” Hearn and Tank have been seemingly going back and forth since he turned down an offer.

Although Hearn pointed out that his comment about Tank Davis wasn’t meant to be disrespectful, boxing fans on social media didn’t see it that way, feeling it was a mean thing for the Matchroom Boxing promoter to say, and they feel he shouldn’t have said it.

With Devin Haney no longer signed with Hearn’s Matchroom company, no one in his stable will face Gervonta.

Not a deep thinker and not articulate made me “not” sign that bullshit ass offer he sent. 😔 https://t.co/ylvNWJXeEG

“When I look at Gervonta Davis, I see a wounded young man,” said Hearn to the DAZN Boxing Show. “I just see a kid with a chip on his shoulder that don’t give a f**k. He’s still not boxed any elite. He’s not boxed Haney, but he’s boxed at a world level consistently for a long time,” said Hearn about Tank Davis.

Gervonta was well-protected when he was promoted by Mayweather Promotions, a company that wasn’t matching him against elite-level guys like Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson, Vasyl Lomachenko, Teofimo Lopez, and Ryan Garcia.

Now that Tank is no longer with Mayweather Promotions, he immediately took a risky fight against Hector Luis Garcia, and he will face Ryan Garcia in April.

Tank is like a bow that has slowly been pulled back for ten years, and only now he’s being released toward the big fights.

If the bad blood the two seemly have for one another continues, it would be interesting if Tank were to battle one of Hearn’s fighters, but he doesn’t have anyone at the moment worth fighting.

Hearn did mention on Tuesday the idea of his fighter welterweight Conor Benn fighting Gervonta, but that doesn’t seem realistic right now.

Benn was popped on a drug test for clomifene, and he’s still trying to be cleared seven months after testing positive. At this point, it’s improbable that Tank will want to do Hearn any favors by fighting Benn.

It’s safe to say that Tank isn’t going to waste his time fighting fringe lightweight contender Maxi Hughes, who is also signed with Hearn.
