Gabriel Agbonlahor has labelled Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison the ‘flop of the season’ following another poor performance for the North London side since arriving last summer.
The 26-year-old Brazilian made the switch from Everton to Spurs last summer in a deal worth around £60 million but has struggled to find his finest form for the club, with just one goal to his name across his 25 Premier League appearances.
Showings which are a stark contrast to his performances for his nation during the recent 2022 Qatar World Cup, where he went on to net three goals wearing Brazil’s infamous number nine shirt, including a stunning scissor kick against Serbia which won Goal of the Tournament.
His most recent performance in white arrived on Saturday against fellow European football chasers, Aston Villa. Spurs lost the game 2-1 with Harry Kane only netting his late consolation goal after Richarlison had been substituted by interim manager Ryan Mason on the 60-minute mark.
Speaking on talkSPORT after the fixture, former Villa striker Agbonlahor slammed the performances of Richarlison over the course of the season. He said: “You look at Richarlison, how many chances is he going to have? For me, he is the flop of the season.
😳 “Richarlison, flop of the season.”
😬 “He cost £60m and he has 3 goals in 33 games. One goal since September…”

“He’s going to cost Spurs £60 million and has three goals in 33 games across all competitions. A goal every ten games, one goal 25 Premier Leagues and one goal since September!
“He was substituted again today after 59 minutes and they were a better team when he came off. He’s the flop of the season. No dancing this week is there?”
Following the loss to Villa, Spurs remain above Unai Emery’s side on goal difference as both teams look to make a late push to solidify a place in the Europa League next season.
