“We have until June 30 to enjoy Luka Modric playing football for Real Madrid”, Spanish reporter Jose Manuel Moreno tweets, hinting that the Croatian won’t renew his contract with the club in summer.
This comes as a shocker, as we’ve been all relying heavily on Lukita for over a decade now. Even at 37, he still delivers.
Modric recently led his national team to a third-place finish at the FIFA World Cup. Following his Qatar heroics, there were suggestions that the midfielder will continue at Bernabeu for one more season by extending his deal.
And hopefully he will as Moreno did not specify the year Modric is to quit — it might be June 2024 or 2025 even.
