Mauricio Pochettino returns to the Premier League! The Argentine and ex-manager of Tottenham Hotspur has joined hands with Chelsea to kickstart their next season.

After leaving Spurs and being sacked by PSG, Pochettino is back to the Premier League in the most unexpected fashion. He has joined hands with Tottenham’s arch-rivals Chelsea; raising concerns as to how the fans at London would react. To our surprise, Poch has been welcomed gaily by the fans who had to endure a disappointing season.

After their exhaustive search for a long-term manager, Chelsea finally seems to have found their captain of the ship: Mauricio Pochettino. It was unimaginable to see him taking the helm of any Premier League club, let alone Chelsea. But now that we look deeper, this decision does make sense.

Pochettino has had a history of making clubs rise from the ashes. He helped Southampton see their full potential; helping the fans see their best-ever Premier League finish in 2013-2014 season. For Spurs too, Pochettino worked wonders. The Argentine in his first season at the club could not help them to a great extent, bettering their finish of 6th position to 5th only. He however did help them to a Champions League final in 2019.

Chelsea will have to give him time. Unlike Graham Potter, Pochettino given his history should be trusted with and provided longevity at the club. Both the 51-year-old and the club have had their downfall in their respective senses for the last year or so.

While Chelsea have failed to make it to the leagues of Europe, similarly Pochettino failed with PSG, perhaps not that drastically. Two wounded entities are going to unite and they may well work as a blessing.

The Argentine’s news has created an aura of excitement within the team with players said to be looking forward to Mauricio’s style of play and man-management skills. The 51-year-old loves to play with young players and does know how to train them under the sun.

Chelsea has a plethora of players in their 20s who love to play attacking football. After being demotivated by Graham Potter and Frank Lampard, they would happily run through a brick wall for him.

After Thomas Tuchel, Pochettino is another PSG cast-off and maybe like his PSG predecessor he can help the Blues get a trophy home.

    Chelsea should give him time

Chelsea’s owners Boehly and Eghbali have been impatient in recent tenure making changes and sacking coaches as frequently as their losses.

The Argentine will surely take time to root his fun-flavored attacking football into the club but once he does there won’t be stopping him and this is what the owners at Chelsea will have to realise. There are even a lot of players like Joao Felix in their first year at the club and for them to acclimatise will take time.

Given the resources and squad at their disposal, Pochettino would trust his instincts to bring glory back to the city of London but for the Blues this time. In a few months’ time will we see the Argentine back in the sideline; orchestrating and guiding his troop.
